My second concentration piece is drawn from a photo of the Great Wall in China. Again, I filled the people in with Chinese poems to demonstrate the connection between the people and the architecture. Ever since my first concentration piece, I’ve been inspired to come up with more creative ways of incorporating famous literature into my drawings. I am thinking of using the words as lines in my other pieces to demonstrate values in the architectures. For this piece in particular, I used acrylic and black sharpie to complete the piece. I think that I was successful int the overall composition , but the piece took a lot more time than I had expected. I had a bit of trouble mixing the colours I wanted and the acrylics were not as opaqued as I wanted them to be, which means I had to redraw the majority of the piece multiple times. This piece fits nicely into the concept of my concentration, because it displays a clear relation between the people and the culture/ literature of China during the time. My idea has gotten clearer and I am confident that the my concept/ concentration will be more developed in the next few drawings.
